The promotions for this year's Summer Olympics are already on television. The 2020 Summer Olympics are set to take place in Tokyo from July 23 through August 8. While we are not trying to compete with those amazing athletes in events like diving, weightlifting, pole vault, or fencing, we're hoping everyone can join us for our own Outdoor Family Game Night on Thursday, July 29.
It's the first, hopefully, in a series of socially needed events to get families, friends, and neighbors together again and gather with one another informally, renew friendships and make new acquaintances, and also have some fun. Our games are really the family reunion/picnic variety and something for all ages -- badminton, outdoor Jenga, outdoor Yahtzee, corn hole, bocce, maybe even croquet, fowling, giant kerplunk and connect four -- a few new games, and probably more!
We are also working to get some food trucks to offer food, refreshments and sweet treats for purchase for what we hope will make for a great summer evening of enjoying one another's company, building community, filled with lots of fun and plenty of laughter!
For now, mark your calendars! Thursday, July 29, probably from about 5 until 8 p.m. (we'll wind down so you can head home when the "street lights" come on). Tell your neighbors, invite them and their kids, definitely spread the word! It would truly be amazing if our entire parish family showed up that evening! You might even meet your prayer partner in person!
Watch the LucyLight for more details and some flyers to share door-to door in your neighborhood during the next couple of weeks.
Food for purchase for the Outdoor Family Game Night will be provided by: Raquel's Cocina Fatty's Burger House
